Hogwarts Library (Bodleian Library – Duke Humfrey’s Library)

Tour the library under your invisibility cloak

Designed with imposing high walls and an intricately painted ceiling, it’s no wonder Duke Humphrey’s Library was chosen to play the Hogwarts Library in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. This library was used for the scene where Harry enters the library under the invisibility cloak with a lamp to steal a book, subsequently breaking all library rules.

With its dark, mysterious corners and floor to ceiling shelves of old books and ancient manuscripts, even the smallest of Harry Potter fans will fail to ignore its striking beauty. Duke Humphrey’s Library is located within the Bodleian Library and you can visit the library only on a guided tour that lasts for 30 minutes.
